Catherine Coxon
B.A. (Hons.), LL.B. - Lawyer
In 2004 Catherine completed a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours in History) and Bachelor of Laws at Monash University, after having undertaken a portion of her studies at the State University of New York (U.S.A). During her time at university Catherine volunteered at the Springvale Legal Service and Family Law Assistance Program at the Monash Oakleigh Legal Service.
Catherine was admitted to practice as a Lawyer in the Supreme Court of Victoria and High Court of Australia in 2005.
Since her admission Catherine has worked solely as a Family Law Lawyer. Catherine has gained experience since her admission to practice in relation to a broad range of Family Law matters including property settlements, spousal maintenance issues and child support matters. Catherine has also gained experience dealing with complex children’s matters.
While Catherine has appeared on behalf of Family Law clients in the Family Court of Australia and Federal Magistrates Court of Australia, in addition to the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria for Intervention Order matters, she is conscious of advising clients about alternative dispute resolution processes.
Catherine sits on the Junior Family Lawyers and Education Committees of the Law Institute of Victoria. She is also a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and Victorian Women Lawyers.
