Darren holds a Bachelor of Economics degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree (with Honours) from Monash University.  Darren brings a wide range of ‘real life’ experience to the Commercial and Music Law Departments of Marshalls & Dent, having gained valuable commercial experience managing an independent record label and recording studio. Darren has always been passionate about the music industry and previously worked as a music producer for a commercial television network. He still “moonlights” as a keyboard player with well known cover band Havana Moon.

Beginning his legal career at a suburban firm in St Kilda, Darren gained hands-on experience in a large number of commercial areas including; commercial and residential conveyancing, commercial leases (acting for both the lessor and lessee), retail tenancies, trusts, business structures, and business acquisitions.

Darren has managed numerous commercial transactions from the outset right through to settlement and is particularly aware of the wide range of issues faced by both vendors and purchasers in connection with the purchase or sale of a business. He has learned to advise clients on matters of due diligence as well as warn clients of the potential “pitfalls” when entering into a contract to buy or sell a business.
