Darren holds a Bachelor of Economics degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree (with Honours) from Monash University.  Darren brings a wide range of ‘real life’ experience to the Commercial and Music Law Departments of Marshalls & Dent, having gained valuable commercial experience managing an independent record label and recording studio. Darren has always been passionate about the music industry and previously worked as a music producer for a commercial television network. He still “moonlights” as a keyboard player with well known cover band Havana Moon.

Darren’s Music Law clients include musicians, artists, composers, independent record labels, publishers and production companies.  His areas of speciality include negotiating and advising on all types of music related agreements, copyright, trademark and other intellectual property matters as well as business structures for bands, partnership agreements etc.  He particularly enjoys advising emerging artists on all aspects of the industry in order that they best prepare themselves for success!
Darren is the chairperson of the Board of Directions of “The Push” (www.thepush.com.au) a not-for-profit, state-wide youth music organisation.  He also lectures in the Bachelor of Business – Music Industry degree at Victoria University.
