John was admitted to practice in March 1980 and practiced as a partner in the same firm in Williamstown until January 2005. John sold his practice and worked in New York until Autumn 2006 and after a short break joined Marshalls & Dent in March 2007 as a senior consultant.

In New York, John worked for a leading Mergers and Acquisition law firm in a team environment with many large merger deals.

Since returning to Australia John has joined Marshalls and Dent and is now utilising his Business Law Specialist accreditation in the business acquisition and sale together with specialist advice in property law matters, Estate Planning Superannuation and Part IV Estate Disputes. 

John is also working the Family Law Team to assist and advise their clients in the associated legal issues that follow from the breakdown of a relationship.
John’s experience in the Estate Planning and Superannuation Law area has included the reviewing of existing wills, testamentary trusts, taxation advice and Powers of Attorney. John has also acted as the Executor/Trustee in many deceased Estates and advised clients in the use and implementation of Powers of Attorney, medical and financial.

John maintains his specialisation in business law with regular attendance at his study group and conferences which ensures his professional knowledge is up to date on all current issues in his areas of expertise.
